Court remands 30-year-old man over alleged armed robbery in Ibadan

  An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, ordered the remand of one Rildwan Lawal, 30, who is facing a charge of armed robbery, at the Federal Correctional Centre, Ibadan. The defendant, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on two counts of alleged conspiracy and armed robbery. The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, who did not take the defendant’s plea for lack of jurisdiction, ordered his remand at the correctional facility. Amole-Ajimoti directed the Police Prosecutor to send the duplicate case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. She adjourned the case until August 26 for mention. Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in May, at the Ologuneru area, Ibadan. 6 suspected bank robbers nabbed in Ibadan

  Six suspected armed robbers, comprising five men and one female, have been arrested by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Adewale Osifeso, a Superintendent of Police (SP), made this known to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, via a press release on Monday. EFCC arrests 35 ‘yahoo boys’ in Ibadan

  No fewer than thirty-five suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Ibadan, Oyo State. EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed their arrest in a statement on Monday. He said 17 of them were arrested on Thursday at the Akobo area of Ibadan following credible intelligence on their alleged fraudulent activities. According to Uwujaren, the remaining eighteen suspects were apprehended by officers of 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan and handed over to the Commission for further investigation.
